Short Order Burger Co launches Juju Blue Milkshake on World Autism
Awareness Day on April 2 to raise money for workplace training program Fit For Working
In support of World Autism Month, Short Order Burger Co will light it up blue with a JuJu Blue Milkshake to raise money for Fit for Working, a workplace training program for children on the autism spectrum. The milkshakes will launch on World Autism Awareness Day on April 2.
Fit for Working was created by Perth mum Mandy Mason whose life changed
dramatically in 2006 when her then 22-month-old daughter was diagnosed with a severe level of autism.
In search of answers, Mason travelled the world to align herself with world-leading learning experts. She’s now clinical director of Fit Learning, an organisation that works with children of all abilities using evidence-based teaching methods.
“As a parent of a child with autism I worried about her future, but 14 years after my daughter’s diagnosis, she’s part of this amazing pilot project to match her unique skills with employers that see beyond her disability,” says Mason.
Short Order owner Simon Kony has always wanted to create an inclusive workplace so was excited to be a part of the pilot program of Fit For Working. He hired Mason’s daughter and has been impressed with her skills. Now Kony wants to inspire other businesses to get involved with Fit for Working to provide opportunities for people with autism.
Short Order will light it up blue with Juju Blue milkshakes on sale during Autism Awareness Month at both stores in Fremantle and Hay street. The raspberry flavoured blue milkshake will launch on Thursday 2 April for World Autism Awareness Day.
“Proceeds from all JuJu Blue Milkshakes will be donated to the Fit for Working project to help them continue their work to train other individuals with unique skills with aligned employers,” Kony says.
